London Marathon is back on!
What a difference a few days makes. I was on the floor, unable to run, feeling dreadful, convinced that I had reversed at least five years of training. Run a marathon? Not a chance! Couldn't get to the end of the street, never mind 26.2 miles. But then, I shook off the low-level virus I'd been carrying. I did a couple of decent runs and felt OK. The pace fell naturally to around 7:45 minute miles, and stayed there even when I tested it over a 9 mile run along the bypass and back. The last mile was no slower than the first and although I felt tired, I was happy enough with that. I'd been in Singapore for a week and had only been back a few days so was still a bit jet lagged, so feeling tired was acceptable. I listened to the latest "marathon Talk" podcast without feeling so much like an impostor. OK, I am still not a marathon runner, but I hope to change that status next week. London is definitely ON!
